The word « Schorle » is difficult to explain. In Germany Schorle stands for a mixture of different drinks with water or juices. Very popular is a mix of wine (mostly white wine) and juice or mineral water.
Mixing wine with soda was a preference of the French soldiers in the 19th century deployed in the south of germany. The name comes from the toast “toujours l’amour” (always love). It then transformed into “schorle-morle” and was shortened to “Schorle”.
